001; diner girl vs. giant veggies (and fruits)
Gran has veggie envy! Canada veggie-envy. While I do admire their giant vegetables, as any good farmer-girl should, I do not think this requires such a heated rant about how it has little to do with their ability (???) and more to do with their soil.
Granddad lost the melon-growing competition, as none of you may have guessed! The Lucases came with one equivalent to perhaps three of my heads. It was quite impressive (and tasty - which three of my heads probably would not be). (Incidentally, I have no notion why she was ranting about veggies instead of fruits)
I thought that such impressively-sized and tasty melon deserved a Poem to Commemorate the Event, but apparently Gran does not!
I can't think why. She ate some, too (and I know she liked it!!)
Other Arcadia Annual Summer Fair events included (but were not limited to):
♥ Photo ops with The Giant Melon (the man in the giant watermelon costume, not the Lucases' giant melon!)
♥ Pie-eating contest (14th place. :( Granddad got 5th!!!)
♥ Pie-making contest (before the pie-eating contest, actually) in which Mom came in 3rd!!!!
♥ Cotton candy!!!
♥ The Ferris Wheel! I was only stuck at the top for half an hour this time!!! :D Improvement on 3+ hours!!!
♥ Bumper cars.
♥ Pig contest - Granddad came in 2nd again this year (and is, predictably, teaching me all sorts of new and imaginative cursing, usually involving how the Robinsons probably cheated)
♥ (Wo)manned the water-dunk booth. :) Fell in 39 times on my shift (which was the most of all of us. 1st place in something?)
Still don't have a car. Bike, however, now has sparkly handlebar bits! Improvement!!
